Production sound mixer in Tampa

I'm Joe Giannotti, a freelance production sound mixer based in Tampa, working across all of Tampa Bay: St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Sarasota, Bradenton, Lakeland and everywhere in between. Full-time since 2008, with thousands of broadcast credits for networks including ESPN, ABC, HBO, TNT, BBC, Discovery Channel, NatGeo, NFL Network, MLB Network and HGTV.

What I record in Tampa Bay

Documentary · ENG · Commercial

  • Documentary: sit-down interviews, verité and multi-day field production, from downtown Tampa to the rivers and the Gulf.
  • ENG & broadcast: news, sports and magazine television at broadcast pace. Tampa is a sports town; I've spent 18+ years working its stadiums, spring training sites and press rooms.
  • Commercial & corporate: spots, branded content and corporate video, with IFB monitoring so the client hears every take.

The local advantage

Tampa is home base

  • No travel fee within 50 miles of Tampa: that covers St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Brandon, Wesley Chapel, Lakeland, Bradenton and Sarasota. You're hiring local, and it shows up on the invoice.
  • I know the territory: the venues, the beaches, the humidity, the afternoon storms, which locations get loud at 3pm. Eighteen years of shooting here means fewer surprises on your day.
  • Same-day quotes: text your dates and location and I'll get you a number today.

The package that comes with me

Top of the line equipment

  • Sound Devices 833 mixer/recorder with an isolated track for every channel, and redundant recording on every job.
  • Sound Devices A20 wireless with Sanken COS-11 lavs, a boom mic for every situation, jam-synced Tentacle timecode to every camera, and Lectrosonics IFB when the client needs to listen in.
  • See the full gear list. If your production needs something specific, text me and ask.
Beyond the Bay. I travel statewide regularly: Orlando, Miami, Jacksonville, Fort Myers and the rest of Florida. Travel past 50 miles is billed at the standard federal mileage rate; even with travel, it's still cheaper than flying a mixer in from out of state.

Common questions

Do you charge travel fees within Tampa Bay?

No. Anywhere within about 50 miles of Tampa (St. Pete, Clearwater, Sarasota, Bradenton, Lakeland and surrounding) has no travel fee.

Do you work with out-of-town production companies shooting in Tampa?

All the time. It's most of my work. A network or production company sends a producer or DP to Tampa and hires local sound. I show up with the complete package, work the way your post house needs, and nobody has to buy a plane ticket.

How do I get a quote?

Text 813-716-8826 with your dates, location and how many people need to be mic'd, and I'll get you a quote the same day. Or read how to hire a sound mixer in Florida first.
